BKL Festival

Please read this important email from the Festival Organizers and encourage your kids to sign up for the Festival!
Looking forward to seeing you all in 2 weeks!

Abby Weissman, NENSA

Quick but important reminder to folks that the BKL festival registration closes in just a week. Since the festival is early this year registration also closes early this year (February 1).

We've already seen nearly 450 kids register but suspect many more would have a terrific time at the festival so wanted your help in reminding and encouraging kids/parents to register before the February 1 deadline.

Snow conditions will be terrific. Weston Ski Track (WST) was the first cross country site in the US to begin regular snow making (more than 2 decades ago) and thus has great expertise. This season has been great for snow making--we've easily made enough snow to insure excellent course coverage despite the warming next week and any in the final week before the festival (see picture at the bottom of the email).

For those who don't know WST, it is an exceptional venue for spectators, with easy visibility of most of the course. The races will be great fun to watch, including the sprint races Saturday afternoon/evening that will take place under the lights.

Additionally, there will be a number of non competitive activities, including a fife and drum band leading the parade, costumed Boston Tea Party actors on site, plenty of face painting, ski jumping with US Ski Jumping, and an orienteering activity with GPS tags. Boston is just 10 minutes away for those who also want to visit the city.

You may want to circulate this email to all in your club. Feel free to reach out to me (bkitch@partners.org) or our festival chair Chris Doyle (chris@bramsdoyle.com) with any questions you have.

Look forward to seeing you at the festival!
