Your Nordic Word of the Week:  Sisu - A Finnish word used to describe the Finnish spirit. It comprises many qualities into one word: endurance, resilience, tenacity, determination, perseverance and a recklessness that inspires a person to take on something in the face of incredible odds.

Hello Skiers!

The latest report from NOAA indicates that while the temps will rise a bit by mid week the rain we have been hearing about will hold off. Let's hope this holds true!  Let's meet for practice at the Grammar School Lower Field at 3:15pm.

The slightly warmer temps could make for some good skate skiing. Hans has a couple of really great demonstrations planned to help get everyone get comfortable with their poles and will cover V1 and V2 pole techniques. We are also hoping to get some fun games going in all the different groups. We look forward to seeing Diny and Diana again this week. We can't thank them enough for their help! YAY!

A SPECIAL NOTE TO PARENTS OF THE YOUNGEST SKIERS AGES 4, 5, and 6: This year a number of young skiers have been mixed into the 1st and 2nd grade age group. We are excited by the interest and level of participation.  Please make sure that your child can keep up with the group as a whole in games and tours etc. as there are great differences in abilities at this level. It is always a good idea for a parent to be present to aide the youngest skiers in group activities and games. Please let us know if you have any questions.

See you on Wednesday!

Eric, Hans, and the Volunteer Coaches
